About the tournament
Roland Garros has been the sport’s defining clay-court stage for generations. It was the first Grand Slam to enter the Open Era in 1968, and its courts have since hosted legends including Björn Borg, Ivan Lendl, Mats Wilander, Gustavo Kuerten, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. French fans still celebrate 1983, when Yannick Noah became the first, and still only, Frenchman to win the men’s singles title in the Open Era. In 2022, Nadal set an unmatched mark by winning his 14th Roland Garros title, the most by any player at a single Grand Slam.
