About the tournament
Set against one of the most striking backdrops on the ATP Tour, the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad is played in south-western Switzerland, near the French border. The tournament is closely tied to Roger Federer, who received a cow during a homecoming celebration in 2003 after winning his first Wimbledon title. Although Federer finished runner-up that year to Jiri Novak, he returned to capture the Gstaad title in 2004. In 2013, he made a long-awaited return to the event and was once again honored with a cow in a special ceremony.
